Ford Takes Honours At UK Car Of The Year Awards
Ford models have won UK Car of the Year Awards for the third year in succession.
The all-new right-hand drive Ford Mustang took Coupé of the Year, winning over the judges with its performance, value for money and fun factor.
UK Car of the Year honours are decided by a panel of 27 British motoring journalists, including contributors to national newspapers, consumer and industry magazines, websites and TV.
Tim Pollard, of CAR magazine, praised Ford Mustang’s “exceptional value, amazing bangs for your buck and sheer drama of the thing”. John Challen, UK Car of the Year Awards director, highlighted Ford Mustang for its “outstanding performance and value for money. Just the name is enough to stir even the most conservative petrolheads”.
Ford Mustang owners can choose between 317PS of EcoBoost power or 416PS of V8 muscle, with prices starting from £30,495. Check out the Vospers Mustang page here.
The style and practicality of the latest Ford S-MAX helped secure Multi-Purpose Vehicle of the Year Award for the acclaimed Ford model. “The original S-MAX tore up the people-carrier rulebook, and now its replacement moves the game on again. Seven-seat practicality meets renowned Ford dynamics – it’s a combination that continues to defy the odds,” said John Challen.
Top Gear magazine’s Tom Ford reckons: “The S-MAX is an MPV that doesn’t drive like one. And yet it takes seven people with ease. Plus it comes loaded with all the best convenience options. As an all-rounder for families, it’s hard to beat.”
Ford models have featured in the UK Car of the Year Awards since they were launched in 2014. Ford S-MAX and Ford Mustang’s 2016 success follow previous accolades for the Ford Fiesta ST and Ford Mondeo.
Commenting on the wins, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director Andy Barratt, said: “We are bringing a desired taste of the US to the UK with Ford Mustang and S-MAX blends cutting-edge design with seven-seat accommodation. We’re proud that the judges have recognised the strengths of both cars in this year’s UK Car of the Year Awards.”
