A limited production run has been confirmed for the long-awaited Leon CUPRA R, a model that will combine power and refined driving performance with sophisticated styling and a premium finish. There will be 799 models built worldwide during the first half of 2018.
The Leon CUPRA R’s exterior has contrasting copper-coloured elements and carbon fibre details on the lower front lip, rear spoiler and rear diffuser. It also has extended wheel arches, unique black and copper-coloured 19-inch alloy wheels plus front and rear air channels. Four piston Brembo brake callipers, different front wheel camber angles compared to the regular model and a new racy exhaust note all point to credible on-track capabilities.
The Leon CUPRA R is the first SEAT to get a digital cockpit, making the interior stand out against the rest of the Leon range. Along with an Alcantara-finished steering wheel and bucket seats, the cockpit includes some additional copper elements.
CUPRA R will be available in the five-door hatchback bodystyle. The UK version will have a 2.0-litre 310PS engine, with a six-speed manual gearbox and front wheel drive.
Further information – including technical specification, prices and open-for-order dates – will be announced after the car is officially revealed at the Frankfurt motor show on Tuesday 12 September.
