Vospers returned to Trevose Golf Club this year for their popular charity golf day. The annual event raises money in support of local charities, and this year Vospers took to the splendid golf club at Trevose, chosen not only for the championship golf course that overlooks the coast, but also because of the first class facilities of the club and the friendly and welcoming nature of the Gammon family, the owners of Trevose.
This year, the three chosen charities were, ‘The Devon and Cornwall Cavitron Fund’, ‘St. Luke’s Hospice, Plymouth’, and ‘Cornwall Hospice Care’ and to celebrate, representatives from the chosen charities were presented with cheques from Peter Tremain from Vospers who have run the charity day for the last 30 years.
Commenting on the day Peter said, “We were delighted to have raised just over £6,000 from our Golf Day, with the total figure raised being split three ways, with £2,050 going to each worthy cause. The company has managed to raise over £100,000 for local charities from the Golf Day over the years, and we wholeheartedly thank everyone that has been a part of this fantastic achievement.”
Lindsay Opie, Community Fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care said, “The continuing generosity of the Vospers team means a huge amount to our charity. Without friends like those who remember us every year at the Vospers golfing event, we simply wouldn’t be able to fund the specialist care we offer patients and their families in Cornwall. As well as the financial support for our two hospices in St Austell and Hayle, donations also help fund the work we do in other care settings including Cornwall’s hospitals and the 24/7 advice line we run to help other health care professionals. Vospers have remained committed to helping us for many years now and we can’t say thank you enough.”
Mike Turner from the Cavitron Fund, another charity to receive a donation from the Golf day commented, “The money donated from Vospers will be used for the latest piece of life saving technology costing £55,000, which we are aiming to purchase by the end of this month. It is thanks to years of support from companies like Vospers that we are able to continue to care for and treat those in need. Since its inception Vospers charity golf day has helped raise substantial amounts of money for the Cavitron Fund and is greatly appreciated by staff and patients alike.”
St Luke’s Hospice were also thrilled with the donation from the Golf Day and commenting on the long-standing relationship between Vospers and St Luke’s, Nicola Keen Corporate Fundraiser went on to say, “St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth are delighted that Vospers has shown great support of the charity since 1993 raising over £40k for St Luke’s. Without the generosity and support of companies like Vospers, St Luke’s would simply not be in the community offering end of life care to those that have been given a terminal diagnosis.”
Plans are underway for the 2017 Vospers Charity Golf Day with Vospers looking to continue the success of the popular day. Full information will be available in 2017.
