Vauxhall electric reigns supreme in the ever-growing EV segment of the automotive industry. As well as Vauxhall being named the best electric van manufacturer for 2023, the All-New Vauxhall Astra Electric was named Medium Electric Car of the Year at the 2024 Company car and Van awards.
Vauxhall Electric | Best Electric Van Manufacturer
Vauxhall was named the UK’s best-selling electric van manufacturer in 2023, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The brand topped the sales charts for the third year in a row, selling 6,402 electric vans in 2023! This means that more than a quarter (29.8%) of electric light commercial vehicles (e-LCVs) registered in 2023 were Vauxhall electric.
Vauxhall is one of few brands to offer an electric variant across its entire LCV line-up. In 2023, nearly a fifth (18.5%) of Vauxhall’s overall van sales were of fully electric variants. This line-up includes The Vivaro Electric which was recently named Best Medium Electric Van at the What Car? Van and Commercial Vehicle Awards. In the overall van market (Electric, Petrol and Diesel) the Vivaro was the UK’s second best-selling van, with over 20,000 sold in 2023.
It gets better. Vauxhall have recently upgraded their entire LCV range: Combo, Vivaro and Movano. The entire line-up now features cutting-edge new powertrains and new technologies. There has also been significant price reductions on electric models compared to their predecessors. The success of its LCV range means Vauxhall was the third best-selling brand in the overall van market in 2023, with over 34,000 vans sold.
Vauxhall Electric | All-Electric Vauxhall Astra
As well as having the best electric van, the All-New Vauxhall Astra Electric was named ‘Medium Electric Car of the Year’ at the 2024 Company Car & Van Awards. Company Car & Van judges praised the All-New Astra Electric for its design, handling, and efficient electric powertrain.
The Astra is powered by Vauxhall’s next generation 54kWh battery and a 156hp electric motor. Meaning it is able to achieve impressive efficiency of 4.2 miles per kWh and provide up to 258 miles of range (WLTP). The battery’s compact size means that the All-New Astra Electric only weighs 58kg more than the Plug-in Hybrid version.
“In our opinion, thanks to its traditional looks both inside & out, the Astra Electric has a better chance than many competitors of getting Joe Public into an EV. Which is why it’s our Medium Electric Car of the Year. It does everything well without doing anything badly. Both the powertrain & efficiency figures are competitive against its rivals & the smallish 54kWh battery means it handles extremely well. We also love the cabin which is both stylish & practical.” Andrew Walker, Editor & Publisher, Company Car & Van
