From 1 September, the insurance provider for the Motability Scheme will change to Direct Line Motability (DLM). To help you understand what this means, we’ve answered some common questions below. If we haven’t answered your question you can get further support at www.motability.co.uk/dlm.

Will I receive new cover documents in the move to Direct Line Motability?

The short answer is yes you will. DLM will send you a new Insurance Cover Note after the change happens. They are predicted to arrive by the end of September 2023.

As well as this you will also receive new Insurance Cover Booklets in the post or via email. These booklets should arrive by mid-August 2023. This new booklet will not apply until 1 September 2023, so you should keep using your RSAM Cover Booklet until then.

A copy of your DLM documents will also be available in the DLM insurance portal, accessed through your Motability Scheme online account.

Will I be put onto Direct Line Motability if my new vehicle arrives before 01/09/23?

New cars collected before 1 September 2023, will still use a RSAM Cover Booklet. You should continue to use this until the change to Direct Line Motability happens. After this date, you will be transferred to DLM Cover Booklet.

Is the breakdown provider changing too?

Your breakdown cover will not change. This means you should continue to call RAC Motability Assist on 0800 73 111 73 if you break down in a car or WAV. If you breakdown in a scooter or powered wheelchair continue to call 0800 953 500 for support.
